PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE |
Mr. Hoggard has approximately 10 years of litigation experience in California, with substantial experience in complex construction contract disputes, public works, lien and job right enforcement, commercial collections and business litigation. Mr. Hoggard has represented a number of general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, owners, sureties, medical related service companies and technology related companies in various disputes through trial, arbitration or mediation.
Mr. Hoggard emphasizes early case evaluation, so that clients can make informed decisions on how they would like to proceed with their particular case as early as possible.
Mr. Hoggard believes that not every dispute necessarily needs to turn into a war. Thus, Mr. Hoggard encourages his clients to seek early counsel in any contract related dispute in an attempt to avoid a greater controversy in the future. |
Mr. Hoggard has tried eight cases to verdict in court and/or binding arbitration. In all but one arbitration ruling, a favorable judgment was obtained for the client. And, in the one arbitration ruling, Mr. Hoggard was successful in getting the court to overturn the arbitrator’s decision. |
In those cases that have not been tried through a verdict, Mr. Hoggard has obtained favorable settlements for the client. In fact, recently Mr. Hoggard was able to secure a settlement from a public agency of over $1.1 million for a general contractor client whose contract had been terminated by the public agency prior to the completion of the project. |
In addition to Mr. Hoggard’s litigation experience, he also has experience in transactional matters, as he has incorporated a number of businesses and has drafted various construction contracts, employment contracts, buy/sell agreements, and operating agreements. |
Mr. Hoggard has authored several articles for construction related trade magazines. Mr. Hoggard has also been a panelist for Lorman on lien, surety and other job right related issues, and has been a speaker for several industry related trade groups. |
